5 MENTAL HEALTH TIPS FOR A CHAOTIC WORLD

Right now, having healthy outlets are more important than ever. It’s not good to internalize everything and have nowhere for the energy to escape to. Here are 5 quick tips to remind yourself of and help pull you up when you start going too far down the rabbit hole.

1. Internalize only what you can handle.

Constantly consuming is not good.  Only mentally and emotionally take in what you can handle.  If you feel your senses being thrown off calibration, then stop and decompress (close your eyes and breathe).

2. Exercise to take your mind off things and to stop scrolling.

The dopamine from exercising is truly unmatched.  Use that hour (or even 20 minutes) to just destress.  Sweating releases toxins from your body and you’ll sleep better at night too.

3. Stimulate your mind by reading, crafts, drawing, or a hobby where you’re using your hands to do something good for your brain.

Positive brain exercises are another form of escapism, they keep you engaged and mentally stimulated in a healthy, non-mindless way. This helps keep your brain young and your cognitive abilities streamlined.

4. Create your own bubble outside of the real world.

This tip is hard to do for some people.  To be in “your own bubble” means it’s a world where only you and the people you want exist.  It might not be feasible all the time, but “me time” in your “me world” is very important. Focus on a passion or seek one through hobbies. It can give your world purpose outside of reality.

5. Go into nature if possible.

Sunlight, water, trees, and fresh air are all healing.  Sit outside, walk outside, take deep breaths outside, or anything else, but the point is to just purely exist and feel that you’re just one part of all connected living things.

CONCLUSION

The world keeps turning and everyday is a new day and fresh slate for you to help yourself. Don’t bottle the stress up until you can no longer face yourself. Choose your peace wisely and intentionally and treat your brain, your body, and yourself with care.
